Health Services Policy and Management, Dr.P.H.



Degree Requirements Department of Health Services Policy and Management 
Learning Outcomes  Arnold School of Public Health 

Students in the Dr.P.H. program must complete 61 semester credit hours in four categories:  DrPH core, HSPM doctoral core, concentration coursework, and a research dissertation.  The DrPH core represents competencies deemed essential for all doctoral students and are consistent across departments in the Arnold School of Public Health.  In addition to coursework, completion of the DrPH core involves a Public Health Practicum.  The hours must be completed in the following areas:


Degree Requirements (61 Post Masters Hours)


Doctor of Public Health Core (18 Hours)


    Advanced Evaluation (3 Hours)


    Select one course from the following:

      Research Methods (3 Hours)


      Select one course from the following:

        Public Health Practicum (6 Hours)


          HSPM Doctoral Core (19 Hours)


          Advanced Topics in Health Policy & Management (6 Hours)


            History of Public Health & Health Politics (6 Hours)


              Statistics and Research Methods (3 Hours)


              • Select one course in addition to HSPM 719 , e.g., BIOS 757 .

              Doctoral Seminar (4 Hours)


                Additional Courses and Requirements (24 Hours)


                • Concentration (designed by student) (12 Hours)
                • Dissertation (12 Hours)
